Oops...Where is "My Documents"?

Hi,

Today something weird happened. I switched on my computer & everything was alright. I then popped in Digit April 2012 DVD & successfully installed "Defraggler" but while installing Nvidia Drivers from Digit DVD my Optical Drive freezed (Drive was only accessing files when I restarted, the setup wizard didn't even appeared) . So I restarted my computer but since then I'm unable to access My Documents, My Pictures, My Music. I then removed "Defraggler", run CCleaner & Advanced SystemCare 5 but its still the same. Since I didn't enabled System Restore (my bad) I can't even roll back. Please help!!!

I think there might be two possibilities for this problem. Either shortcut links have been corrupted or your user account.


first try going in to "users" folder then in you current user and see if there Documents folder exist or not..

If not then try creating new user and log in to that and see if there folder exist. IF it is then you, need to delete that user and create new one and start using that.

If it is administrator account then, you need to enable a hidden admin account to delete this and create new admin account for your self.

Disable that hidden account after using for security..

@clmlbx My Documents, My Music, My Pictures, My Podcast & My Videos is there in User Folder so I guess I don't need to create new account. How to repair Shortcuts in Start Menu? Whenever I right click properties of Documents/Music/Pictures in Start Menu it says "The properties for this item are not available".

right click on task bar and properties. THere you have option to enable my document in start menu

That might not solve the problem. Look deeper then.

@Faun Yes It was "Display as a link" by default so I select "Display as a menu" but still its same.

Go to above link(posted by Faun). click on "lnk" (Find it Alphabetically in "L") download simple very lite registry file(*.reg), double click on it click yes and ok .

you are done. You might need to restart.

@clmlbx I install 'Ink' & restart computer but the problem still persists. Still showing "Documents.library-ms" in start menu. Strange!

I even right click 'Libraries' & click 'Restore default libraries' but no use

use Tune Up 2012 or else use JetClean (Free).
your problem will be solved
