Nudity Detection Software

some servers have this nudity detection softwares installed which doesnt allow some pornographic sites to open... can anyone tell me on which basis or algorithm this software work ?? one server disallowed a photography site of a wellknown person as porn....

Very good question...

I am a member of another messageboard(MB) and one of its admins is a professional programmer in the States. They have nudity blocking software installed on the servers of their company as well. A voting link for that MB, which has zero nudity content, is blocked and not allowed to access at the admin's workplace.

What I'm trying to point over here is that not only pornographic content but also various other harmless sites get blocked as a result of this precaution.

I'll see if I can make any headways with that respect and get back to you.

hey...i dunno if this is any use to u....but i use a program to filter out advertisements, called admuncher. it has a an option to remove images containing pornography, and it works quite well. the elimination rate is around 95% i wud say. u can check out the program @ www.admuncher.com

last time i checked there are professionals working on this, who surf porn all day then update the porn database and then the software blocks those sites.

I heard that it checks the amount of skin colour. If it goes beyond a certain level,it decides the photo as nude.

I have heard this. Dunno whether right or wrong.

If the skin colour appears more number of times then the image is more likely to be pornographic...

They work that way...

Find some pornographic imahe who's hue has been changed and it won't be able to detect it...

these softwares scan the image for the percentage of exposure the skin is subjected to. If the pre defined percentage is exceeded by the image, then the image is marked as porn.You can find more information on www.dansguardian.org

ya, this principal works only if the media is an image. That trick did'nt work with .avi format.
