ntldr is missing

when i start my computer i get the error message
ntldr is missing
press ctr+alt+delete to restart
but when i boot with my windows xp CD in the DVD drive (but not actually booting from it ) i do not get the error and i am successfully able to boot into windows
i tried fixmbr in repair mode but it does not solve the problem
please help

if u are not able to find tat too.. jus reinstall (NOT a fresh install) ur Windows OS and it will be restored back... :)

You'll need to manually copy the file from Setup CD. Look at solution of Point 7:

either just repair from the disc

and if u hav dual booted then go to the previous os and then copy the missing files in the drive and windows folder of the new os

I have tried to copy ntldr files from the xp cd in repair mode as well as well as after booting through command prompt but i get access denied message
i have checked permissions of the files

And if you repeatedly get this ntldr missing error it's time to throw your hard disk. In SUSE open a konsole and type su and press enter, followed by
fdisk -l
and press ENTER
and post the output here

/dev/sdb1 is your looks like your ntfs boot partition (your C: in windows)

To write to the ntfs drives, add the OSS repository to your openSUSE and then through YaST download ntfs-config

Then launch ntfs-config from the K menu, it will be under system

You can assign mount points for all your ntfs drives and enable read/write
