nokia 3220 data cable problem

mobilegeek and others,i need your help once again.i gave my samsung x100 to my father and took his nokia 3220.my friend gave me his data cable for 3220 as he doesnt do anything with it and also doesnt knows anything about it.my problem is that i cannot know the data cable is of which type.So tell me how can i recognise it. On the cover it is only written USB data Cable and on one other place it is written USB to SERIAL interface.Now the softwares provided with it cannot detect my phone.Nokia pc suite is not given in the cd.So i am downloading it today.What should i do now. :?: :?: :?: Thanx.

You need to have Nokia PC Suite (latest version is 6.6) .. since u are downloading it ...
It will install the modem drivers ... then you can connect the pc to internet. :D

nokia 3220 supports which data cable???and what is my data cable.How to know??it's one side is USB which goes into computer and other side is serial which has 12-13 pins which goes into the port besides the battery charging point??

tintin Dont get excited too much ... just wait untill the download completes .. bcoz when you install the Nokia PC suite then only the computer will recognise your phone .. and about your cable .. it should be dku-5 .. generally it is written .. at the back-side of usb side of the cable.. If it is not written .. then you got to wait .. whether the pc recognise it or not .. if you are saying that It is from your friend's 3220 .. then it should work .. :wink:
and you must also install the cable drivers that came in the cd.

no,it is not detecting.when i start nokia pc suite it asks to connect the phone and then it shows busy.it cannot detect the phone .now i am downloading the drivers vishalbhatia has given.then will try once again.in the device manager it shows USB data cable(COM 4).

do i need to install the dku-5 cable drivers that vishal gave also along with the drivers given in the cd for the data cable.??The cable is not orginal.does the problem lie in the win xp sp2.

No, you dont want to install the drivers on the cd. These drivers that I have told you are the latest version of the drivers which are on cd right.

1. Goto the nokia website and to the 3220 page.Use the link in it to download the PC suite.
2. Use the drivers which came with the cable.
3. Install cable drivers first
Finally after installing both you will get one option saying "port x on nokia XXXX" use that option and your phone will be detected.

nothing like that happened.what to do now.

I tried today MobiMB mobile media browser and it detected my phone and data cable as DKU-5 and i could transfer my images.BUt my problem is not solved.PC suite still cannot detect my phone.I also installed DKU% drivers from nokia site but no avail.AS my main aim is to connect the phone to internet,SO please let me know if there are any other softwares for connecting to internet or use my phone as a MODEM.WAITING FOR REPLY. :oops: :oops: :oops:

You should have downloaded from nokia-india site
check on india-site 3220 page
whether the 6.6 version is compatible with it.

That is the problem ...
You are using a priated cable ..
and that cable can be faulty.

3220 does not support BT.
Have been using the phone for about a year now.
But if you do know something thats hidden that I dont...pls let me know:)

Restart the PC Again

now make sure that PC suite is not running
or
In the nokia pc suite menu .. open connection manger .. and uncheck all .. spl. the DKU-5 box
..
Now its the time to connect the cable to the PC
..
If you are running Windows XP .. It will install the cable . and
modem drivers too.
..
and
Now go to the
Control Panel > Phones n Modems > Modem
..
See if it shows the 3220 modem
