No display after pluging in the Gfx card.

I borrowed a msi 6850 cyclone edition from a friend and pluged it into the mb. But it gave no display. I removed, reinserted, and tried again, but still no display. The beep comes, means the pc probably boots up just fine but still the monitor light remains orange.
Although the monitor is working perfectly when connected to igp, The graphics card is/was working in perfect condition before this.
My system config (excluding the graphics card is)
phenom 955 stock clocked at 3.2 with stock cooler, 4 gb kingston basic ram. Asus M4a785td-v evo, seasonic s12ii 520w, 2 x 500 + 1 x 160 gb harddrives. The igp is one radeon 4200. Dvd rom is not connected. Monitor is dell st2220 21.5 inch. Everything is working perfectly when gfx card is not plugged in.
Please help me out here and let me know what might the problem be.

Ok, update, I even tried it on pci 4x slot.
Still no tick.

Did you plug the monitor cable in the GPU back plate? Or is it still connected to the motherboard plate?

Sorry.
Its working again.
Just changed the DVI connector.
By the way, can I (my friend) send the graphics card for RMA if one of the dvi slot is not working?

nice to hear that Op has found the issue but there's another reason can be there ( it happened with many - so posting here ) when there's no display comes out after pluging in the Gfx card - after pluging in a new Gfx card sometime it's necessary to reset the CMOs setting or sometime latest version of mobo bios is required.

@ OP - make sure the DVI port is not working even on your friend's pc.
