Nexus 7 2012 and Samsung S Duos WiFi issues for certain apps

Hi,

I just bought a Nexus 7 2012 and some apps like all the google apps the standard twitter app don't work on my WiFi at home but they work at my office WiFi and the exact same problem is there for my Samsung galaxy S Duos phone but those apps work on 2g/3g as well. However some other apps like Opera and the non default twitter apps work at the home WiFi as well as my Laptop and a Galaxy Tab both have WiFi working and all apps work.

Any idea what could be the issue? Or what steps I can try to fix this?

If you are running stock Android without changing it to a custom ROM and also not trying to access Internet from 3G dongle then its highly unusual for you to run into this issue.

Try to change the DNS. Follow this procedure:
1. Open Wifi settings.
2. Turn on the Wifi.
3. Long tap on your Home wifi connection and select "Modify connection".
4. Tap "Show advanced options"
5. Tap IP Settings and choose "Static"
6. Enter "8.8.8.8" in the DNS 1 text box.
7. And 8.8.4.4 in the DNS 2 text box and tap "Save".

See if that helps.

Thanks for your help! As it turns out it was a proxy issue. I have no proxy anywhere but proxy was enabled, disabling that fixed that problem. (atleast for the Nexus)

What I do find strange is how other apps were still working.
