Rajeev.

Right off the assembly line
1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: This will not be a gaming PC. Applications like autocad, photoshop will be mostly used. It'll also be used to watch 1080p movies.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 25k. I can extend it up by another 5k.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans:No.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans:Win7

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 500gb

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: Yes, I'd like to buy a monitor between the resolution size of 20 - 22". My family insits on a bigger size monitor as theyll watch videos on this system, mostly 1080p.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Speakers.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Couple of weeks.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Assembler.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans:Hyderabad. I'd prefer to buy them online.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I want this computer to be fast and to be able to handle the applications and movies. Do i need i3 for this or will an AMD processor suffice ? Thanks.

HI there, considering your needs i would suggest go with AMD FX 6100 3.3 Ghz for rs-7800,go for mother board MSI 970A-G46 rs-5600,buy 4 gb DDR3 transcend value ram 1333 Mhz rs2000,hard drive WD or seagate 1-tb rs-4500, buy 400 watt SMPS VIP rs-1000,this should nearly come around 20-21000 rs,rest of the amount you can spend on buying the screen go for a full HD capable 22 inch screen with alteast minimum response time of 2ms-5ms anything beyond this value will kill your movies making them blurrry on action and fast scene sequences...:D
(P.S please check the prices on flipkart as i have used t my source for pricing)

one more thing on monitors look for wide viewing angles, the greater the viewing angle the better, also look for refresh rate of upto 75hz,look for company like samsung,lg,benq, dell

The Local PSU's are no match for the Corsairs , Seasonic brands... The Local PSU is made out of Cheap Components.
The Local PSUs tend to Carry the Whole System with them when they Blow off.....
Secondly, the FX 6100 is not a Good Processor....
Intel Core I3 3225 @ 7.2k
Gigabyte GAB75M @ 4k
Corsair Value Select 4 GB @ 1.3k
WD 500 GB HDD@ 3k
ASUS DVD ROM @ 1k
Corsair CX430 V2 + Cooler Master Elite 310 @ 4k
Logitech MK200 @ 0.6k

Since OP will not be gaming, so 2ms-5ms response time is not required. You won't notice a difference even in monitors with RT upto 15ms. That spec applies only to fast paced racing games where a bit of ghosting occurs. Same applies for refresh rates of more than 75 Hz too.

Wide viewing angles do not guarantee better viewing experience, especially in movies. It depends on the panel type used. OP should go for an IPS panel based monitor.

Can an APU be suggested to OP for such a short budget....? How about A10-5800K.

Buddy buddy, you are going wrong.

> FX 6100 is not a very good chip an i3 3220 is better than fx 6100, so one should go for i3 3220, or upgrade to fx 8350

> Corsair value select 4 GB is available for 1800, ehile G.Skill sniper 4 GB 1600 MHz is available for 1700, so sniper is the obvious choice.

> 1 TB HDD is available for 4000-4200.

> VIP PSU is lord if **** in PSUs. the minimum should be Corsair cx430v2

> only an expert with eagle's eyes can tell the difference bewteen 2 ms and 5 ms response time. Besides, even if I give a monitor with 10 ms response time, you are never going to complaint about it.

Well when I was scouting for a rig for my friend I too came comparing A10 with i3-3225. This is what I found
1. A10's GPU is far better than i3-3225 (HD4000)
2. i3 is better than A10 on computational front
3. A10 is better than i3 on GPU and makes for an excellent budget gaming

Overall I found A10 to be better VFM than i3. I would also suggest A10 for your requirements

Some prices are of local shops in my city, some are from mdcomputers and some are prices reported by other members.

> for budget constrained config, an a10 5800k is best option. It is slightly slower than i3 3220 in single threaded apps, slightly faster in multithreaded apps.

> a10 5800k has a very nice igp (better than i3 3220's) on which you can easily run games on medium settings.

> If a discreet GPU cannot be included in the config, then a10 5800k is the best choice, else i3 3220 is better choice.

Nobody said FX-6300 is bad, they said about FX-6100. Both are not at all same processor and FX6300 performs far better than the old FX-6100. But for Photoshop and AUTOCAD based applications, I still think FX-6100 might be a better solution than i3 3220. Due to its 6 Core it can take advantage of multi-threaded apps.

It has very poor single threaded and not so good multi-threaded performance. In gaming and other single threaded applications, it has been beaten by the old Phenom II X4 series Processors and in multi-threaded applications, it is below the old Phenom II X6 processors. That is the reason, we normally don't recommend it. If you can stretch a bit, then try to get the FX-8120.

Considering that fx 8350 config is coming at 37k and a10 config is coming at 32k, you should get the fx 8350 if you'll be using photoshop and autocad very frequently. Fx 8350 is ideal for such job. However, if the work will be occasional (or even just once a day) then a10 5800k is the way to go as even that has good multithreaded performance.

Yeah the marginal cost difference is making me lean towards fx-8350..
