I was expecting the 8gb Touch to be available for less than 10k. 14k is ridiculous. And the Nano prices are even more ridiculous! I should've known the low prices would be too good to be true.

the way-too-costly iPhone can be sorta kinda justified cuz Airtel and Voda arent allowed to bind the customers under contract and hence, they cannot subsidise the phone...

Btw, iPod touch 8 GB is $229 in US!
And I have heard people getting new ipod touches for 12-13k in grey before the price drop. I wont be surprised if you can now get it for 11k odd!

yes things are getting worse
you might be correct about iphone price aspect but actually all apple products are lot costlier in india say about 20,30 percent higher than actual prices.even the old 8gb ipod touch was priced 17,500/- through apple stores.
Yes apple products are very good and they cost more than similar rival products but apple should not vary prices from country to country esp in india by that much margin

so expect to see low prices by them for new models

WTH, that's totally worthless for 14k. for 4k more you get a product like Cowon A3 which mercilessly kills this piece of ****.

I must say even at this price touch 2g is a great product
I think both touch and A3 are targeted for different audience
touch 2g kills A3(in your language)in following aspects
1:Unmatched UI experience(Most important feature of touch from my point of view)
2:Great looks
3:Safari with wifi
4:The wow factor.
5:App store:applications and games.the true potential of touch's top hardware is yet reveal.Just go on you tube and watch video of NFS undercover on touch.At present also there are many exciting games.Seems like ipod touch is true portable gaming device.
The only drawback of old touch was its hissy SQ.but now with 2g its gone completely the 2g sounds great over complete spectrum.For me this makes touch as ultimate deivice

1:You just cant compare cowon's ordinary UI with apple's multi touch UI.apple are far ahead of cowon as far as interface is concerned.dont forget touch has same UI as that of iphone.
2:What i meant to say is looks of player. cowon's 22 mm thick 280gm a3 looks brick and cheap in front of 8.5 mm 115gm touch
3:wifi is available in many public places(atleast in cities like pune,mumbai,banglore etc)
4:touch is pleasure to use.wow factor is uncomparable to A3.just bring out touch out of your pocket and use it.people will be amazed.what about A3;just another ordinary brick
5:these days devices becoming covergent.would you like to carry out dedicated handheld console like psp along with 280 gm A3 brick and possibly a cellphone?games on ipod touch is really welcome addition
well as i said both are completely different products
A3 is better with specs like audio format,video format and resolution.its for people like you who care more about "formats","DVD movie in pocket" "AV Cable""LCD out"etc.who like to carry out 22mm thick and 280gm brick in their pocket and who think mp3 players sholud not play games.
personally i dont care about features like AV cable lcd out etc.sure A3 has more extra features than touch but those are pretty much useless for me.touch has good video output.if i want to see dvd movies,i will better watch them on my home lcd.
ipod touch is very cool,typical apple device:great hardware,sofware along with wow factor.
it is extremely pocketable and it plays great games
one more thing touch has battery life thrice than A3
