Apple broke the long awaited support on its iPod Video and its available in white or Nano black, and the beautiful screen has a resolution of 320x240 pixels with 260,000 colors. The 30GB has battery life of 14 hours for audio only (60GB version is 20 hours). This number will surely be much lower for photo or video-only playback.

The only complaint is its small screen size of 2.5 inches. I mean, they should have given at least a screen size of 3-3.5 inches for decent video viewing. Maybe made the click wheel smaller to fit the same...

why are we all all indians concerned about this video ipod?it only runs in those stations which have access to an ipod store because video in ipod runs only through download and one cannot insert any types of movies or anything from the computer itself.so if one does not think of going abroad to get the media downloaded sit back and enjoy your cool audio-only ipod as i do. 8)

@AMD64: I am pretty sure you can convert your existing videos to the H.12341234 codec and view them on your iPod video...why else would there be a tutorial on how to convert your video to play on the iPod at engadget.com?

it's h.263 or h.264 video codec

I thought it (H.12341234) was a ref. to some joke going around which I didn't understand. Yeah, I 'm aware of those mpeg standards. It should be H.264 w.r.t. iPod video.

goobimama -

H.264 is the IEEE code for MPEG4-AVC. Apple uses this standard for their mp4 video encoding via their Quicktime implementation.

Nero Digital AVC and x264 (open source) are also based on the same standard.

They say it's the future of video encoding, but I'm still sticking with H.263 (= MPEG4-ASP = Xvid/DivX etc) till they make DVD players that can play H.264
