New Gaming Config @ 30k - have PSU & GPU

Hello, I writing in again as my previous thread died and Diwali is closer than expected, heres what I have to say

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')

Ans:
I want to use the computer mainly for Gaming.Other activities include Media Transcoding using applications such as Handbrake, Video Editing for Personal uses and Software Programming using IDE's such as Visual Studio, Dreamweaver & Photoshop.I play First person & third person shooters, Racing Games.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans:
My Budget is Rs30,000

3. Planning to overclock?

Ans:
Yes, if the components fit it in the budget.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans:
Windows 7 (maybe Windows 8) and Ubuntu.

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans:
Since Budget is a concern and HDD prices are high I could go in for a respectable size like 320gb and above or use the 2 40gb ATA HDD's I have in RAID provided it wont bottleneck - I need an opinion.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans:
I want to purchase a 20" 1680x900 monitor as it will better suit my Graphic card and future cards, since gaming at non native resolution on 1080p monitor will distort the gfx.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans:
Graphic Card - GTX 460
Power Supply Unit - Rosewill Stallion 500Watts

8. When are you planning to buy the system?

Ans:
This Diwali

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?

Ans:
I have built a Desktop before, but I do not know about Cable Management & Airflow

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?

Ans:
I live in Goa and I would like to purchase it over the internet as its cheaper compared to the local Dealers. If the rates don't vary much, Ill buy it locally.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?

Ans:
I will also needs peripherals such as :
a. Keyboard and a 5 button mouse
b. UPS
c. 2.1 or 4.1 Speakers
d. Spike Guard (I have Powersafe in mind)

Optional :
e. CPU Cooler
f. TV Tuner Card

I prefer to have a 2x2gb memory for dual channel instead of 1x4gb for greater bandwidth.Heat & Noise should be low hence a good Cabby with proper airflow, should be durable

1st of all, almost all current generation motherboards do not come with old ATA or PATA connectors. So I'm afraid you can use them as internal HDD in your new build.

Your choice of APPLICATIONS really make me confused, how to suggest a Processor? For all the tasks apart from Gaming. AMD FX 6100 will be the best choice but in gaming....a Core i3 2100 can beat the hell out of it.

So I am suggesting you AMD FX 8120, which is capable enough for gaming but superior in Multi threaded tasks like Handbrake, Photoshop etc.

AMD FX 8120 @ 9.3K
MSI 970A-G46@ 5.5k
G-skill RipjawX 1600 MHz CL9 DDR3 @ 1.5K
WD Caviar Green/Blue 500 GB SATA II @ 3.5K
ASUS LED VS208DR BK @ 6.3K

Thanks for the reply, Gaming is my primary use and I need a config to deliver that. I think an i3-2120 or G620, should fit perfectly for that config....can you suggest a config on that basis then ?

As I've mentioned, Ill be needing everything - even speakers and a UPS so the budget wont accommodate expensive CPU's or cabby's. I only have the PSU and the GPU .
