Need to buy a mobile for my wife (10k to 20k range)

Not very specific, but would like to avoid LG

6. What camera option you want? Please specify need for flash, autofocus, front facing camera.
A basic camera which can take crisp pictures will do and flash is not mandatory.

7. Preferred operating system? (Android, Symbian, iOS, Windows Phone etc).

3G and Wifi would do

9. Preferred applications (Flash, Swype, GPS, etc)?
GPS (to be used during travel within India)

Calling, internet and SMS mainly. A little bit of camera and gaming occasionally.

11. Any specific mobile phones in consideration?
Considered a variety of phones - Dell XCD35, Nokia E5, Motorola Defy/Defy+, Nokia E6, Sony Ericsson Neo V and Iphone 3GS. But couldn't come to a conclusion as each has its own disadvantages.

12. Any other info that you want to share
(a) The new phone must actually be an upgrade from the current phone (ASUS P320 windows touchscreen phone).
(b) Good battery is a big plus
(c) Future updatability is an added advantage, but not a must.
(d) The phone must look good and shouldn't look like a typical budget phone

I woul say Sony Erricson NeoV fits the bill perfectly .

Nokia E5 E6 , UI not good Dell XCD35 i don't know though.

Defy is good , but Neo V has a better screen and camera.

Although you can consider the iPhone , since your wife does not care about its features and performance. Having an iPhone is somewhat like your condition states - "The phone must look good and shouldn't look like a typical budget phone"

Finally, took the plunge and ordered Samsung Galaxy R for 19990 from Letsbuy. I hope I made the right decision by opting for Samsung Galaxy R over SE Experia Neo V that is priced close to 4.5k cheaper.

if its for your wife I think u should buy her an iphone unless your are prepared to be your wife's mobile advicer.. But if your wife is a little techie you should buy her a good android phone.. I think u should go for a xperia arc or ray... looks are more important to women than specification.. both are very capable phone and both the phones look stunning..
