This is my 1st post in this forum.Need some Help.See I knw that Am2 is around....Conroe is around....but I was thinking about this config:
Amd Athlon 64 3800 X2 939 Proc

Asus A8Ne Proactive SLI dlx mobo

1Gb DDR 1 Zion to begin with (well I have questions about this u see as 939 supports only DDR1 shud I buy this mobo or not?Coz I've hrd that the "industry" is trying to phase out DDR1 and bing in DDR2..hence prices of
DDR1 going up so on and so forth...

Again another issue is the kind of graphics card that I shud go for I chose the Zebronics 512mb DDR2 Nvidia 6800 Xtreme(as it is 512mb , supports SLI and below Rs.10000/-)

Lastly wat monitor do u guys suggest i)Samsung 940bw tft lcd wide OR ii)HCL 19" Tft Lcd square?

I bought a Zebronics "Antibiotic" tower and a Zeb Platinum 500W Smps.................

Go for Sony 17" inches TFT monitor! It's the best I have seen so far.

I know I've seen that monitor at comp stores but I think it better to spend on a 19" wide 16:9 Tft Lcd than on a 17" square Lcd even more when the price diff is only Rs.2500/-

hey wat I actually need help with is my choice of 939 socket (ie.3800X2 and Asus A8Ne SLI Deluxe) coz I was told by the Hardware vendors in Calcutta that the Industry is trying to phase out DDR1 and pave way for DDR2.Hence DDR1 will keep getting obsolete so on and so forth......any suggestions

And

I need a PCIe Graphics card which is pretty decent which is 512mb and supports SLI.Also it has to be under Rs.10000/- as I will buy 2 of them.Hence I decided on the Zebronics Nvidia 512mb 6800 XT......any suggestions

Do u have any idea hw much 7600GT will cost?Is Zebronics/Leadtek a good company? My earlier card was a XFX Fx 5600 ultra which died within 1yr 1 month of purchase.

Well 1st of all sorry guys for pulling up old junk...but come to think of it....the configuration I had posted back then is still the best config in the market and unfortunately I still cant afford it....
....wat I can afford is no where close to my dream....

A quick glance at my system config:-

Intel Core2Duo E6600
Asus P5N32 e SLI
Transcend Jetram 1GB 667mhz
Samsung 940BW
Zeb 8600GT
Seagate 250GB sata II
16x Sony(OEM) dvd RW
Zeb Anitibiotic & Platinum 500W
Microsoft desktop pro 700
bluesoliel bluetooth dongle
Logitech MX Revolution

Anyways this is not the reason why I dug up this ancient thread....the thing is that a friend of mine needs to buy a comp within 30k and this is wat I suggested to him...

Athlon 64 X2 4000+ AM2
Asus M2N-MX motherboard 7500/- (for the proc + mobo bundle)
Transcend Jetram 1GB 667mhz 2100/-
Cheapest 19" 4:3 (aspect ratio) square LCD 8500/-
Seagate 160GB sata 2100/-
16x Sony(OEM) dvd RW 1500/-
Watever cabby and PSU 2000/-
Watever mouse and keyboard 1000/-

His requirements are usual surfing, word processing, watching movies, playing music and ocassionally playing mid range games (I guess he may add a VGA card later) - any suggestions regarding any better component is always welcome (especially motherboard and proc)
