Dear DIGIT and FANS

I thank you for helping me in purchasing my gaming rig in 2008...

Now i have come to your door step asking help again to decide few things for my rig's up-gradation.

1. I intend to upgrade my GPU from 8800gtx to ZOTAC NVIDIA GTX 650 Ti AMP! Edition 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card.

Which i would like to buy from flipkart.com (ZOTAC NVIDIA GTX 650 Ti AMP! Edition 2GB 2 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card - ZOTAC: Flipkart.com).

I feel like this card is enough for me as it comes in my budget. Otherwise please suggest me any nvidia cards from flipkart under 14-15k from zotac or asus make..

2. My mobo is Asus P5G41T-MLX and a 2 gb of unknown ram is installed. I would like to install a new ram mostly a 4GB DDR3. No budget limit for ram..

I have made certain choices but now i am in turmoil. I would like to ask you if this model of corsair (Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4 GB (1 x 4 GB) PC RAM (CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9)) or (Kingston HyperX DDR3 4 GB (1 x 4 GB) PC RAM (KHX16C9B1R/4)) is suitable for my mobo (Please select best one for a hassle free rig with no overclocking). Also asus has mentioned that the model (Kingston ValueRAM DDR3 2 GB PC RAM (KVR1333D3S8N9/2G)) is in their QVL list for memory.

I have chosen the above rams from flipkart's website whose link are:

Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4 GB (1 x 4 GB) PC RAM (CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9) - Corsair: Flipkart.com

Kingston HyperX DDR3 4 GB (1 x 4 GB) PC RAM (KHX16C9B1R/4) - Kingston: Flipkart.com

Kingston ValueRAM DDR3 2 GB PC RAM (KVR1333D3S8N9/2G) - Kingston: Flipkart.com

For your information ya i do play a lot of games and my processor is intel core 2 duo 8400, 3ghz..

Please reply with your valuable suggestion.

Eagerly waiting your desperate fan.

your cpu will bottleneck the performance of Cards like GTX 650 or even HD 7770 but 14-15k should get you a nice gpu and having a nice gpu is better for future proofing but as you are a gamer most of the games now performs better on a multi core cpu - so if you can upgrade to a better cpu+mobo combo first.

Now if you don't wish to upgrade then 14-15k should get GTX 650 Ti Boost [ look for Asus DC2 Top ].

As for ram module the mobo can handle 1333 Mhz memory speed max with OCing while the default speed is around 1066 Mhz so you better stick to value series 1333 Mhz ram modules from Corsair/Kingston.

Do you intend to upgrade your CPU later ??
Cause I am not sure that spending 15k on a card like 650ti would let you use all of it's performance if used with you current CPU.

Your CPU will severely bottleneck your new GPU. So you can go for this instead...

AMD FX 4300 -6300,
Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 -6300,
Zotac GTX650Ti 2GB Boost -13800,
Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 4GB -2400.
TOTAL -28800.

You need to increase your budget from 15k to 28k so that you can get a very VFM looking RIG possible.OK.

The 4300 is a waste of money, just by giving 1k extra you get a very very powerfull [relatively] CPU the FX 6300

^^Agreed. In Indian price point, FX-6300 and FX-4300 are dangerously close and FX-6300 is a way better buy. You will get 2 extra cores and 4 MB of extra L3 cache (6300 has 8 MB L3 whereas 4300 has only 4 MB of L3) by spending just 1K extra.

Get the FX 6300 by adding 1k extra
650ti boost is available on flipkart for 13.3k [-0.5k]
-----------
Total +0.5k = Much better cpu
