i have few questions about bios and mobo driver update.

well can anyone please tell me first what is a bios update and why do we need it.
is it necessary to update your system bios.everytime.
will it harm the system.

******************query about motherboard driver update*********
well is it necessary to update your mobo driver to the latest. like your graphic drivers.

then can anyone please provide me the link from where i can update my motherboard driver or bios driver.
i have asus p5gl-mx model motherboard.


well i am having few problem on running hlf2 ep1 game.i am getting c++ runtime error at a stage.so valve suggested that i should update my system bios.

BIOS updates updates the BIOS of ur system . usually increases processor support , more OCing options etc . .

its usually not necessary to update teh BIOS . update it if u get a specific advantage by doing so ( its listed ).

it can render ur mobo useless , if u flash a wrong BIOS ( usually it wont happen , very rare ) . or a power failure occurs during flashing.
there are ways of recovering a bad BIOS also , but its not easy to damage a BIOS unless u want to.

YES , u shud keep all drivers up to date . .

It is recommended you update your BIOS only when it solves some problem or increases support to something you need otherwise stay away from updating BIOS.

Manufacturer often release driver updates to fix compatibility issue,provide support for new hardware.Same is with bios.You should normally update all ur drivers every 6 months.
