Need help regarding solving an issue - probably an OS issue - NP550 - S05IN

Hi friends, I'm using S05IN. Some time back some virus came in to the system and the antivirus I'm using didn't do any defense. So I tried a different antivirus and finally it is solved. But the prob is, since then my laptop became very slow.

  • If I open the task manager, it shows 97% hdd usage

  • Sometimes RAM usage shows 88 % even though I didn't open any app

  • If we see the task manager, the service host itself shows many instances running. I have googled about this and found many people having a similar problem. But the solution provided there didn't do any good here.

Due to these probs, the pc is really slow and it feels like it doesn't really preform well even with the higher end specs. I have done few things like, recover, system restore, etc. but none of them really solved any problem.

I thought of few things which could solve this:

  • Reinstall Windows 8 - But I don't have the OS dvd of Windows 8 Single Language (I have some other windows 8 though)

  • Install Windows 7 - I have it but I heard that having UEFI hardware, we cannot install windows 7 (without losing warranty)

So please help me solve this prob....

I don't think that second option will void your warranty.I did this on a dell laptop.Just turn off secure boot from bios and enable legacy boot. Then boot win 7 dvd under legacy mode.

Which anti-virus are you using now ? I have strong intuition that virus is still existing in your system.

I'll first install a god anti-virus such as Avira (free) or ESET (my personal fav, paid though). Scan thoroughly and update with results. If the results are satisfactory then fine, otherwise go ahead with a fresh format.

I tried scanning with Kaspersky and ESET..They didn't show any virus...After this I used "recover" option. system is restored with Norton IS. Presently I'm using this, and results are clean...

Gone are the days of formatting with Windows 8. First clean all the viruses and malwares from your system than just go to the windows settings (in Charms Menu) and refresh your system, this process does not delete any files and if this doesn't solve your problems than do restore of your system, this process formats your system and re-installs Windows.

hmm..try running sfc /scannow from cmd.

done !! and it said like there are some corrupt files and it will be repaired by a reboot. I have rebooted but still this prob exists..just if i open task bar - ram and hdd usage goes to 97 % usage..

I tried that bro...For re-install it says W8 dvd is required.. I don't have the same version of W8 image...I have some pirated version though..But not sure if I can install that or not..

i don't use windows 8 but there is some program called Intelli memory, try to uninstall that program and see how much is your RAM usage.
