Legen-wait for it-dary!
Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices.
Advanced button in Speaker Settings.

Set it to 5.1, and then click Speaker Volume in Speaker Settings and turn them all to the max. Enjoy.

dude. seriously, how can you get 5.1 output from your laptop when your laptop doesn't have audio ports for 5.1 setup?

Your laptop has this:

1 x audio - line-in/microphone - mini-phone 3.5 mm
1 x audio - line-out/headphones - mini-phone stereo 3.5 mm
1 x audio - line-in - mini-phone 3.5 mm

For 5.1 channel setup you need to have 3 audio out ports (apart from one line in and one microphone port).

In short, your laptop doesn't support surround sound. Get a Express card based sound card.

Didn't you check before buying laptop/speakers for 5.1 channel support?

seriously dude, you should've done your homework... 5.1 ch sound from your acer (or for that matter from most notebooks) is next to impossible... another way to get around the problem is to sync all the inputs for your speakerset & attach it to your pc.. well, it wont be dolby surround sound, but you'll get an output from every speaker, though i should warn you, it may ruin the quality of the sound if u dont do it properly... best of luck!
