First of all welcome to the forum, as for GFX card u may get geforce 5200 128 bit for less than 3k, not too sure about it. But for speakers wait for other answers, coz intex doesnt provide that gr8 sound. As for mobo go for Asus. If u want to save money for other things also, dont go for SATA HDDs coz the performance gain over PATA is only 3-4%.

My system prices

The prices below are what i bought my config for three weeks back. Have had no problems with the ASrock combo z and its reviews have also been at OCW (ocworkbench.com). Will upgrade to 939 once price hit rockbottom.

1. AMD athlon 64bit 754pin 3000+ Rs. 6500

2. Asrock k8 combo z motherboard Rs.4000

3. Transcend 400mhz ddr 512mb 2200

4. Seagate 7200rpm barracuda sata 160GB Rs.4250

5. Go for Combo drive if using 160GB hard disk. Rs 2100

6. Samsung Syncmaster 17" Rs.5650

7. Antec slk1650b cabinet w 350w smps Rs.1400

The key board and mouse i got from the digit wireless offer from logitech. Am yet to go in for speakers but will probable go in for Altec lansing or Creative inspire 5.1 speakers. So far the system has cost me Rs. 25,000.

Hope that useful.

Added advice: Move to 1 GB RAm as soon as possible and disable Virtual memory from your system

Dont go for Asrock any day , go for ASUS or MSI . Also make sure you buy a SATA HDD and not a PATA. For the RAM go for box packed with life time warranty.

The Barracuda is not SATA. PATA sorry

sorry boss you got it wrong

barracuda drive means its spinning at 7200rpm so it can be sata and pata that is determined by the interface the drive geomentry / construction is the same in both cases.

dont go for asrock as it many feautures missing such as 7.1 high defination audio, firewire port and also it has less no. of usbports,

and on the top it is meant basically for low end avg. user and not for gamers

dump fx5200 and ur asrock and get this

MSI RS480

Looks too good for s939.

U can upgrade to PCI-E in future if u want and onboard IGP is good enough.

yes MSI RS480 is cool, the onboard ati X300 chipset is far better then fx5200....plus the realtec 5.1 sound

MSI offers the best bang for the bucks....ASUS is the best performer but then its expensive....and asrock....well just forget it!

and dont make ur life a living hell by going for intex 440W speakers :p if u cant invest much on speakers then atleast go for Altec Lansing AVS300 2.1 speakers....

ENjoy....

Asus owns ASrock. It is Asus for the lesser mortals.

And yes the MSI chipset is pretty good.

agree
but asus is for pros and gamers while asrock is for office workers

it is just as the case of lexus motors and Toyota car Co.

Well if you dont know,
There are absolutely NO overclocking options on that motherboard.
Infact ATI Bullhead[RS480] has achieved so much appreciation for being a decent OC chip, taking that into consideration,it is sad not to include any OC options.

I was thinking about this board but went ahead to buy A8N-E for the reasons stated above.

look at the budget.....
the guy was thinking of FX5200....
and to fit s939, onboard IGP is must, and there is no better that RS480 in the range.

I agree but what if he plans to do some overclocking in future? If he feels his system is becoming a bottlneck and OC'ing a bit will solve the problem, what do you do then ?
The board costs around 5-6k,well if he adds a bit more and get a card, he will be better off i guess.

not everybody is comfortable with overclocking man...including me, i've never overclocked, it never interested me....and dont just think that overclocking is a job well done, it has its own disadvantages too....makes hardware more prone to crashes, makes its life shorter plus other irregularities so at times it can actually lead to more expenses plus ur warranty is also hold void once u overclock, i'm sure u know all these....although i agree that an expert overclocker will not go wrong but then how much are there actually....i dont think more then 20% of computer buyers overclock....

i dont think its a good idea to buy a hardware just on the basis that it will overclock well, maybe for u but not for many(quite a lot actually) general users like us....its always better to go for a product which offers good value and performance and on that terms MSI RS480 does well....however if one is an expert user then definately he can consider overclocking options but plz dont say that one's buying decision shud be based on overclocking ability of the respective product....
