Multi Monitor Set up

Hi All,

I need advice regarding setting up multi monitor set up from senior members;

1. Number of Monitors : 3 + 1 laptop ( I already have laptop just wants to connect in given system)

I need advice regarding main hardware only:

1. Proccy

2. Cards

3. cooling system

4. cabinet

5. Back up (power)

Budegt for above 5 is 50K.

don't need some Hi-fi system from top of the shelf.

Prime Work : Trading and occasional gaming.

The system will run at least 10-12 Hrs a day. In my office I have 2 monitors set-up on single cabinet with normal Nvidia card. it works fine untill i not switch to VMWARE.

1. How many displays can be connected with hd 6950
2. Is corsair 600 is enough.. Or I should go for something 850 watts.
3. Is there any u shaped triple monitor stand available in India

^Upto 3 monitors can be used with 6950. But I am not sure if you will be able to play with good FPS on such high resolution/

i serached few US forums. for multi display setting they are recommending ATI FirePro V4900 and V2460. I ccan afford then but the thing is can play descent games with them.

You got it wrong buddy. ATI FirePro is a Workstation graphics card used for real time rendering of 3D objetcs and can be useful with applications like Maya, 3Ds MAX, Adobe Premiere etc. While using those software multimonitor is required and one is used to apply the different processing vatriables to the object and the 2nd one to see the Output in realtime. Firepro is not meant for gaming.

For quality gaming in 3 Displays, you need a very good Graphuics card with good amount of Video RAM. HD 6950 and HD 6970 2 GB models are good choice for it.

4 monitors on HD 6950. Two _have_ to be from Display Ports and the other two can be from DVI/HDMI.

Thanks Jas. but 6950 2GB pricing is not out yet. AS u advised, I am going to buy this in Jan only. As 7000 series about to lunch, so hope price of 6950 will come down.

6950 2GB is readily available.

and if you buy in jan, look out for HD7000 performances. do not get a 6950 then.

If HD 7xxx launches in Jan, prices will be high initially. Will take at least a couple of months to come to normal levels. In fact, from what I have seen (at least in Kolkata), it takes at least 2 months for a product to hit the market after its launch.

@ jas.. Well rumours are tht hd 7xxx going to be price somewhere 20-25k

Don't ever believe the rumours. The only time I remember "rumours" being correct in history, is when Intel released "Core 2 Duo" and when ATi released "HD 4850 and 4870."

Price will be high initially as yields on a new process will be low and AMD will have to earn money.

If you can go to local market, which it might be available at lower price then this deal is not so good, otherwise its good. Cause, some days ago, I heard that this modules is being sold at ~2.8K.
