Movie Converter Prob

I have used may software to convert movie into avi but none of the effective.
When I convert movie into divX format the size of that movie increased and also the quality is not good as original one........
I have downloaded many rip movies but their quality is excillent and even 2 hour movie is come under 700 movie.
Please suggest any software to rip movie in small size with good quality.

use AutoGk to rip movie files (VCD or DVD )to xvid. Best quality, though little slow.

but I need not only speed or quality....
but I need quality at minimum size....

use virtualdubmod with d x264 codec encoding d file at a bitrate of 500 kbps with 2 or more passes

suggested settings 4 d x264 codec
