guys, I am new to the forum, and new to this android world, but I have researched for more than a month before buying my device, and read almost every single expert as well as user reviews in many different forums. and yes, its Defy. I am using the stock rom still, and having little bit issues, but that's not at all a dealbreaker. I have seen galaxy slcd screen in samsung store and I have my defy, and I am gonna say it has far better display than galaxy sl. now if u go for galaxy s, in terms of display its better, assuming it has same quality of display as wave cause both share same super amoled screen. i have got it for rs 13500/- from ebay by a seller named gplanet11, and he has an offer going for 13899, may be it will drop again.. desire and defy are quite same in specks, considering u get out full of it by modding, though defy scores more in terms of battery backup, and gpu. but i totaly love htc sense.. but still defy is better.
So my suggestion wd be buy defy within 14k, and use your extra money for a nice earplug. Stock yearplug comes with defy sucks. There is one more thing you need to remember, that the latest defy handsets come with SOC camera module, so there wd be an issue installing official defy+ update, camera wont work, but it has awesome XDA support(Desire has it too). So I dont think it will be much of a problem, btwn MIUI roms run smoothly.
About xperia Ray, I wont comment cause i have no idea about it
