Hi,

I am planning to buy Athlon 64 X2 4400+

Which would be the motherboard suited for it under 5k?

Nvidia 6/7 series graphic onboard available for this?

Thanks.

MSI K9A GM2 costs only 2.3k
and Asus M2A VM costs only 3k.
Both are ATI 690G chipset based micro ATX mobo.
K9AGM2 dun have DVI, but M2A VM has DVI as well as dsub. Its HDMI version is avalable for 3.5k.

M2A-VM doesnt support super model 3.0, go for M2NPV VM or M2NPV MX (go for one which is cheap.)

ill dig out my M2A VM for supermodel...:D

nyway @pushkaraj
how come M2A Vm has nvidia gfx:shock:
M2A itself means....ATI chipset nd M2N means nvidia chipset.

M2A VM has SM 2.0 ATI X1250 GFX which is similar to nvidia's 7050 onboard GFX which is SM3.0. M2A VM can even run crysis at low setings.

Lolzzz...
Oh i think even my mobo gigabyte ga-k8n51gmf-9
Doesn't hav supermodel 3.0
Btw aravind i am a bit confused about the m2avm. I thought it has nvidia 7 series graphics. Then which is Asus's latest offering with onboard nvidia 7 series gfx. And btw, dont be surprised if i say that crysis works even on my mobo that has onboard nvidia 6100 gfx. I have an amd athlon 64 3200+ 2.0 GHz with 512 MB of DDR400 ram. Nvidia rocks :) What say?

how can ati's SM 2.0 be nvidia SM 3.0 , SM 2.0 Tech is same no matter whether is ati/nvidia dude.

This is from Asus site
AMD 690G
The AMD 690G Northbridge is the latest AMD chipset designed to support 800/1000MHz HT(HyperTransport) interface speeds, Microsoft® DirectX 9.0, Pixel Shader V2.0 and dual VGA outputs including DVI interface. It features the integrated ATI Radeon X1250-based graphics.
Look it says, Only shader 2.0 works on this mobo, even if an external ati/nvidia card with SM 3.0 is used will not be supported.

but ull not get the joy of DRIVER BUGS with nvidia:D

So far ,nVidia driver for vista just sucks...ATi-AMD is doing rather better in this front..:mad::mad:

@spitfire
maybe...but in my opinion ATI sux in drivers. Most of the driver releases are buggy.
I updated X1250's driver from ATI site and it clearly says 'driver for x1250 onboard GFX', but it dun work. But the one given is CD worx fine.

nvidia also started releasing buggy drivers after vista and GF8.
