monitor shuts down

I have a 19 inch view sonic monitor which shut down automatically after sometime of computer usage. The CPU and hard disk seemed to be still running as I could see the lights on. When I tried to do a hard reboot I could hear long beeps from the motherboard and the monitor failed to turn on. But after repeated reboots I could get the monitor started but now its again doing the same thing. The only thing I get are the beeps but the monitor doesn't turn on. What is the problem here ?

Could be the screen or the graphic card. But you are giving a really vague idea of the issue. Please mention your complete system configuration which obviously includes the power supply as well.
