Modem not working.

Whenever i try to connect through my dlink modem it shows an error that the two servers did not agree on ppp control protocols.what could be the problem.I have a dial-up modem and a bsnl connection

First of all repair you internet tcp/ip protocols ->control panel->networks.
Then see whether your dialing number is fine!
It may also be that the servers are down!
