When I have finished converting the .mid to .mp3 using MIDI MEOW and then play the new mp3 file, the progress bar moves in the right manner, but there is no sound from the speakers !!!!

It should work. I have tested it.
>Specify 'IN' and 'OUT'
>Select output type as 'Mp3'
>Set Bitrate of your choice say..128
>Now Click Convert one. It will start converting and also playing in real-time.
>Stop the convertion
>Mp3 file gets saved at the saved location

A simple method
1. Download and install audacity
2. select the recording source to line in
3. play the mid in winamp
4. and record simultaneously on audacity.

This is an analog method, you will get some hissing in the background, but it works just fine
