For students, the sounds are set to ringtones so that teachers cannot hear that there is a incoming phone call

it does not cause n e pain or harm

the range of audio frequency that a person can hear reduces as he/she grows older. a young person can thus hear a larger range of frequency than an older person

so the frequency of these sounds lie in that range, which majority of adults have lost the ability to hear, but not the kids/young pepul
