The ongoing saga regarding Mass Effect 3’s ending has reached a new and very interesting point, as fans have started a petition to convince BioWare to change the conclusion of the game. And, in order to really make their effort stand out, they’ve begun donating to charity, managing to raise over $30,000 (around €23,000) in 24 hours.

Mass Effect 3 came out last week and, since then, fans have begun expressing their disappointment with the different endings provided by the game.

According to them, the game failed to offer them any interesting options, ignoring any of their previous actions in the game and in its predecessors.

Some fans have begun campaigns to get BioWare’s attention, while others even started coming up with their own endings designed to replace the ones from the actual game.

Now, a new petition has appeared on the web, in which fans not only ask BioWare to add a new, more heroic ending to the game, but do so by donating to the Child’s Play charity.

“The Retake Mass Effect - Child's Play donation drive is a community driven effort to bring positive attention to our petition for an alternate ending to the fantastic Mass Effect series,” its description reads. “The Child's Play charity was chosen as a charity started by gamers to provide video games for the patients at Children's Hospitals all over the world.”

“We would like to dispel the perception that we are angry or entitled,” it added. “We simply wish to express our hope that there could be a different direction for a series we have all grown to love.”

Donating instead of just signing an online petition is a much more impressive effort on behalf of Mass Effect 3 fans and the effort is paying off in spades, as over $30,000 were raised in 24 hours.
