maps on nokia 5530 xpress music

Yesterday i got a new nokia 5530 xpress music
i know it doesn't have GPS....but i found an app called maps installed in the application folder of the phone.
when i tried to open the app named maps....its asking for network connection.

Is there any way i can use this nokia maps without a network connection
(and i also wanna know why it is asking for network connection actually)
...

never used nokia maps, i use google maps. it is good but requires internet / gprs

m.google.com/maps

As it doesn't have GPS inbuilt it will work in AGPS mode which will require internet connection to determine your current position, though not as accurate as real GPS however you can easily find your way through the nokia map supported cities. better you take unlimited or at least 2GB GPRS monthly plan and enjoy nokia maps
