your RAM maybe loose. open ur cabinet. take out the RAM, clean its pins with a soft cloth, also clean the socket.
u can also try putting ur RAM into another socket.

There are two ways to find whether your RAM is fine or not:

1. Use another RAM in place of your RAM and then switch on.. If it starts then your RAM is gone..

2.Instead of gettting a RAM,take your RAM stick to one of your frnds and try to boot his/her computer using your RAM.

WARNING: use first suggestion with a little careful way, if your frnd's RAM blows off, you will be left to pay for his RAM also!!!

If it's an Award Bios and the beep sound is repetitive,it could be an overheating cpu or graphics card problem.Check whether the cpu fan is moving at normal speed.

Check here for beep codes : *www.amptron.com/html/bios.beepcodes.html

Do U get 1 long and 3 short beeps.....than problem is:
Extended memory failure

Ans if U get 1 long and 8 short beeps..than problem is:
display test and display vertical/horizontal retrace test failure.

RAM failure beep code is:
single beep

Is your new ram DDR266,333,or 400?
If it's a DDR400 you may want to check your motherboard specs, whether it's supported or not.In most cases it works(at a lower freq) even if the ram's beyond the motherboard specs;but I remember a case when a similar thing was happening....files were getting corrupted.

Anyways,1st try what ravi_9793 mentioned.

The RAM stick must be compatible with the motherboard. Read the motherboard manual to know all sets of compatible RAMs.

The system may boot but if the Ram's not compatible you may get numerous problems like BSOD,restarts, programs crashing frequently etc.

In this case I dont find any case of compatibility.I dont think computer will not boot using a non-compatible RAM.

If you ger error message while working ....,or sytem restarts..it means,...U may have bad RAM..or bad RAM slots. It may be possible that RAM or RAM slot has become dustly. It is a good idea to chage the slot and clean the RAM+slot if you get error messages.
