hello people,
this is my third thread as my issue is still not resloved since 6 months..
whenever i play movies on my sony dvd writer... it makes some crackling noises and the picture becomes slow i cant use VLC player when watching movies on my dvd player...
the only player which reduces the noise is NERO SHOWTIME....

without noises:
.avi files work in windows media player sumtimes.

.VOB files works good with Nero SHowtime player...

due to this my friends gifted me a lite-ON dvd writer .. its the same issue again... we have tried changing the cables , changing the IDE modes... no luck at all. MOVIES SAVED ON MY HARD DISK WORKS PERRRFECT. but cant play them on dvd player...

i am pretty frustrated with this.. seems like a motherboard issue or sumthing..

any help wud be greatly appreciated.

I once had this type of issue with my hard disk
Whenever i tried to copy data from my master harddisk, i would get an error that the slave harddisk had some write error

Then when i checked, I found that one of the pins (IDE) on the harddisk was bent and two were broken

I soldered new pins in the slot and and now it works like before

There can be multiple issues for your problem

1.Firmware
2.Motherboard IDE Slot Issue
3.Master or Slave configuration conflicts

Please let me know how have you configured your Hard Disks with DVD-ROM/RW

if u mean the primary channel IDE....then .. DMA is enabled..

but secondary channel is PIO only...

if secondary channel is DMA = it wont play the movie at all..

buddy... i think u didnt get my problem...

i have changed the whole firmware..from a sony dvd writer to Liteon .. but the problem still exists.. so theres no question of updating it..

i repeat ..i can play movies saved on my harddisk without any cracklin noises..

but not with my Liteon dvd writer.. :-(
