Laptop startup noise optical drive ?????

The issue is my laptop's optical drive makes a noise at start up , shut down &some times when i insert pen drive or charger like for 2 second what is it ? Does your lappy makes simalar noice btw its working f9 do i need to tell lenovo about it ???

Have you tried disabling Boot from CD/DVD from BIOS settings ? See if this still causes weird noises.
Btw , it would be good if you can elaborate or explain in more clear manner .

k how to disable cd ? i have changed the sequence from bios cd is in 2nd place after hdd but still no change it is still making noise at start up shut down and when im inserting a pen drive [mts mblaze] and charger !!

Every time the system boots, or shuts down etc, the system polls the ODD, to see if there is a disk inserted in it, at that time it makes the noise, its normal, can your optical drive read discs normally?

Its because WMP is trying to see if there is a disc in the drive and the drive is powering up, spinning for a few secs, hence the sound from the motor.

Whenever you insert any media in optical drive, then OS scans the whole media due to autoplay/autorun feature. You can stop it by keep holding the right shift key. It used to work in XP, can't say about 7.
