Laptop HDD making noise

my laptop HDD suddely started making extra noise as it spins.

t gets this off and on and it is NOT a constant sound. And the intensity of the sound goes down gradually as you the HDD slows down, You can actually hear it happening.

What could be wrong?

Please advise asap.

Contact the service center and get the laptop serviced.. The vibrations could damage the hard disk...

Btw any idea about compaq's servicing and how much would they charge. I am off warranty now
