Laptop Buying Advise: Budget 50-65k

Hi friends, My firend wants to buy a laptop.

Her requirement is normal.. browsing... movie watching etc. Screen size requirement is 13-14 inches

She is more interested on Sony Vaio laptops/lenovo or apple(but mac book pro or Apple macbook is out of budget)

My personal experience with dell was also not good.. it has so many problems within the first year.. I am alos using Vaio(SR 520 G .. bought it from usa and its working really well)

Other requirements:
Windows 8
Screen should be good ...
backlit keyboard etc

please suggest some..

Best VFM laptop around, period. Full HD, high end graphic card. Don't go for touch screen lappy's - pricey and dodgy performance.

Other than dell and maybe HP, everything else is meh when it comes to ASS. And this doesn't have FHD, waste of money except for it's form factor.

why sonay vaio laptops aren ot so much recommended on this forum.. just wanted to know

Way to overpriced. We're usually looking for VFM and good quality, rather than mere looks or portability mostly.

^^^i know what girls prefer when it comes to choosing a laptop...LOOKS :| they don't care about configuration at all apart from LOOKS and watching movies, Universal truth, i have 5 cousin sisters and they all picked up those laptops which had good looks, SONY wins here by huge margin, so tell her to get that 1st laptop which you have suggested.

Lenovo Y500 does have a younger brother - Lenovo Y400, but i think it has not been launched yet.

Just came through this in desidime and the spaces looks very good.

Need more power?
Change the HDD with a 180GB SSD which will cost you ~13K

lenovo y400(14 inch screen) is not available till date i think. otherwise this smaller version of y500 also would be a good option.. . touchscreen will not be a good option imo. you will forget to stretch hand and touch screen after a few days.. !

Right off the assembly line
How does the Dell Inspiron 15r turbo compare with the Y500? The seem to have similar specs and are also priced pretty close.
