Thiruvananthapuram, Tuesday 16 Dec 2008: The KSRTC will introduce daily services using three new Volvo buses on the Thiruvananthapuram-Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram-Bangalore sectors from December 17.
Procured at a cost of Rs.70 lakh each, the body of the bus is designed as per international standards and can be raised and lowered up to 15 cm. by the driver so that passengers can board and alight without any hassles.
Tubeless tyres are a unique feature of the buses. Electronic air suspension is another salient feature of these buses. KSRTC sources said the telescopic shock absorbers would ensure comfortable journey.

Finally, the time has come to say good bye to those private operators. I hope these buses will be run without any break downs which is usually the case with other interstate KSRTC buses.
Most of the currently operating private buses are also not that good. The private buses are old, and some have lot of those blood sucking bugs (forgot the actual name) :).

Great news. Thanks. Any idea about the ticket charges and whether online booking is possible?

Volvo buses were there during UDF Goverment term (When Ganesh Kumar was the minister) itself. And I think when the new Govt came, they sold those buses telling the maintenance cost is too high.

No idea how/why they changed mind and bought Volvo again !
