Keeping it cool

In my room I don't have an AC....most summers I have trouble with overheating in my PC.

This time I went to the local dealer who sold me the assembled PC with this problem. He said that including a heat sink, extra fan, etc. was the usual way but suggested another method.

He told me to place a ice tray on top of the case, with a protective plastic sheet beneath. Said that since metal is a good conductor of heat this way my entire PC would keep cool.

I tried it and yes the fans became less noisy (meaning it was becoming cool).

As the ice melts, I quickly replace it with another, so that no water droplets are formed on the plastic sheets. Should I continue with this method of keeping my PC cool?

hahhah..........LOL
people go crazy cooling their system, the craziest method I posted about was keeping ur cpu in the freezer.

How much temp drop do u see before & after ice cooling..............download speedfan to monitor our temp.

On other thought if the plastic sheet is kept then it will reduce the conductivity, so better use some other conductive thin material like aluminum foil but which is water proof & ur ice bucket also should be of aluminum.

The alternative extreme method I read about ice cooling was keep the cpu in thermacol ice box & make a protective compartment of black pvc plastic to seperate the ice from the comp then cut the hole for fans & wires, this also works like a charm.
Here is the old post I posted.
