If you are not very enthusiastic about photography and don't travel a lot, the DSLR will eat dust, I suggest get a Bike, else get some god soundcard(xonar XTX) and some good audio setup(A2?) and upgrade the pc if necessary. Galaxy SII is another nice option.

itseems you have enough computing knowledge. so its good to choose a camera.

Besides, I need something which would take me away from computers.

If I had that kind of money. I would start with - NerdKits - learn electronics with our educational microcontroller kit
basically go into DIY electronics, programming , microcontrollers, robotics etc. Ofcourse you will need time along with money for this.

Also there is lot of cool stuff on dealextreme.com

Yes, I know what kind of camera I am getting with D7000. Besides, I need something which would take me away from computers.

If you are not really into photography then i suggest you get a good bike ...........Atleast that will keep you away from computers as well as serve you for a long time considering the amount of money you plan to invest:smile:

I have always dreamt of getting a Projector!
You can opt it if you already have a good sound setup!
