I downloaded and installed MS Antispyware into my Activated Win XP yesterday. It shows - "This version is valid for only 227 days. You may contact Microsoft for an updated version." Does it mean that it is not free with genuine Win XP and is to be purchased separately? Pl enlighten.

mind u its just a beta

and is been used for testin purposes only

so thts why !!!

Being a beta version, is it fully safe to use it? And many people in the forum recommend to use it.

ms antispyware is a beta version. hence free presently for 'genuine' (whatever that means) winxp users. its absolutely SAFE, and in fact is one of the better anti-spys !

Doesnt Spybot provide realtime protection??
not really, it just keeps a watch on the registry and identifies changes.
ms antispy, spywaredoctor, spysweeper have some excellant real time protection.

beta versions are meant to "expire". u would be asked to download the next beta incase this expires too. so dont worry, until the actual release is out. its too good!
