The No.1 Stupid
hi friends

I just wanted to know that is it possible that an antivirus itself gets infected by a virus and apparently work fine , in coordination with that virus .
I mean it harming our PC without letting us know.

well there are some viruses which cn destroy antiviruses or are known as ani virus killers....but these virusees wont work in colaboration withe the antivirus..they only stop the functioning of anti viruses

i have writen it earlyer in a post & i am quoteing it here.... judge by ur self...

I said:
again an anti virus battel.... lol.... guys what ever AVS u use.. ur system is bound to get afected.. why... because i personaly feel... the companys who make AVS, they needs to sell that product...

if there is no virus atall why users would buy an AVS..

i think thats why companys makes new virus by them self... & make their pruduct secure before lounching the virus... other AVS wouldnt going to have that protecttion... in this way the AVS will benifit by advertising that, their product was capable enough to stand that attack....

and all ways make an enverment where we feel u r not safe & we feel we need a deferent AVS.....

lol....

as this is my personal thinking... i would like 2 know what others think....

lol....

welll pimpom,

then how can one detect those viruses and protect our computer?

For that u'd have to get the latest AV such as AVG/ KAV/ Antivir, etc and update as and when its available... Run a scan to see whether ur infected by any virus and clean/delete/repair them up.

but how will i came to know that system is affected , if AV didnt detect any virus?

Perhaps it wouldnt be a virus ... It may be some spyware or trojan in the sys. Almost all of the viruses are detected by the softwares... :)

Unfortunately there is no 100% guaranteed way to detect, block or remove all viruses and related malware.

If you suspect that your AV prog may have been infected, one way to check is to install another AV prog and scan. E.g., if you've been using PC-cillin, install AVG.

Some viruses (virii for the grammatical purist) can hide as a code in the system registry even if all infected files appear to have been removed. To remove this kind of infection, Trend Micro, the makers of PC-cillin, has system cleaners available for free download at their website. There are two versions : tsc.exe for those using PC-cillin, and sysclean.com for those who are not using PC-cillin. Sysclean needs the virus pattern file which can be downloaded separately.

I thought it was only the free online scan which was available from them.

So they do have a software to run in the drive...

Certainly. But TSC (for TrendMicro System Cleaner) and sysclean do NOT provide background protection. You have to launch them manually when necessary by double-clicking the exe file. They take only a few seconds.

This is different from the free online scan which is a full virus scan. TSC and Sysclean are mainly for the system registry.
