guys...plz help..want to install fresh copy of win7 x64 on my dell inspiron-1545 laptop..it previously had 4 partitions..

1. system
2. recovery
3. c (os drive)
4. d (data)

so i booted system using bootable win 7 x64 disk..i deleted first 3 partitions and tried to merge all three into one..so that installation created 100MB system partition automatically followed by c drive next to it..

but the actual problem is the installation was stopped cause of reading file error..dont know what to do..should i install xp 64 bit and upgrade it to win7 64 bit without using 7 ka DVD..??

If you have a 4GB+ USB Drive.
This will format your USB drive. Backup anything important

Open up a Command Prompt as an Administrator (right-click and select “Run as Administrator”).

Type

list disk
This will show a list of all your active disks, associated with a number. Note the no your USB drive, based on the capacity/size.
Select Disk # (# = no of your USB)
Clean
Create Partition Primary
Select Partition 1

Format FS=NTFS
Assign
Exit

Copy everything from your DVD to your USB drive.

Use the USB to install W7.
