hi
recently i installed win2k3 64 Bit Server (gen) in my HOME PC..
After successful installation, when im going to enable aCTIVE dIRECTORY, windows just refused to install it that saying "TCPIP Settings does not configured properly, check ..".
i have onboard NIC and already configured tcpip settings.

My friend says that unless to connect the computer to a Router, Active Directory could not enable.
Is it true...
Anyway to enable Active Directory without to connet a Router....??

Plzzz Help..

Wire muncher!
Then buy books on Windows Server which provide Simulators on the DVD/CD. Thats the best way to learn at home without any network :)

I Always Prefer 1080p
Install VMWare Server or VMWare Workstation above your Operating System.
Then try to install Windows Server 2003 Active Directory as a Virtual Machine.
In this case you do not need a router. You NIC is more than enough.

To enable AD, it's not necessary to have a router.
U need to set a static IP in your computer's TCP/IP settings.
U also need to have atleast 2 computers connected together, with either one configured as a DC for u to properly learn/practice AD.

BTW, u can use a simulator as suggested.

Instead of VMware, you can easily do by installing NetBEUI network protocol. Windows 2003 doesnt come with NetBEUI protocol. You can

a) copy nbf.sys file from \valueadd\msft\net\netbeui subfolder into the \%systemroot%\system32\drivers directory,

b)copy netnbf.inf into the \%systemroot%\inf\ directory

c) then open network connection properties and click Install to add NetBEUI.
