install Linux on SATA HDD

Right off the assembly line
I have the following Configuration of My pc.

K8SMX Motherboard
AMD Athlon Processor 2800+
512 MB RAM
80 GB Seagate SATA HDD
and ...

now when i m trying to install linux, it shows that no harddisk found.

i have tried redhat 9.0, Mandrake 10.1, fedora core, etc - all the linux that came with DIGIT.

Pl. tell me what to do...
write me all the steps in detail...

As far as I kno..Fedora Core 3 supports SATA format as well as Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4....give FC3 a try as its free!!!!

Have you tried knoppix? Does it list your hard disk in the hardware?

Knoppix also has a hard disk partition manager. What does that show?
