2999 is the *retail* price for those shoes. When IndiaTimes procures it for their offers, they can avail it for *much* lesser price. The same is true for all other products links the tracksuit, towel, bag, etc.

Even after the whole deal, they are making decent profit. Nobody does business in loss.

If you need all those items, I think you should go for the deal. But be warned that merchandise in such offers may not be of the same quality that you get in retail. They may be of a lower quality. People usually don't think of this because they attach importance to brand name--and this is how the "brand" exploits.

I have a bad experience with FILA. I was new to "branded" shoes. I used to purchase local company shoes till then. So one day I asked my brother to help me out with branded shoes. He told me that I would have to pay anywhere between 2K - 4K. Being new to branded shoes, I was not comfortable spending such a large amount in my first purchase itself. So after much searching, we got a FILA shoes for Rs. 800/-. FILA said that it had warantee of 1 yr. Within 6 months, its condition is pityful. The soles are waiting to come apart, etc. I don't know if this is because my shoes were costing *only* Rs. 800/-. Whatever, I have always avoided any FILA product thereafter. My local shoe company kicks the ass of FILA for that price, longetivity and dependebility. Also, I have stopped being brand-crazy since then. Now if I get a good deal from a local shop, I go for it. But you have to be careful as you must know how to check the material and craftswork before handing over the money else the shokeeper will fool you easily(and so did FILA fool me).

Quite true. But it isn't the same case every time. Sometimes the manufacturer has to make do with the old stock lying in abundance at his warehouse. At such times, the sales are of good value to consumers. Not only do the get good quality products but also at a cheap price.

Brand name is where most of people get looted. I never go for a particular brand, I just get what suits me the best. A few months ago, I needed to purchase a DVD player, maybe some of you here might be knowing it. Upon researching I got to know about 'Koryo' which is a local brand. Though I was skeptical but seeing it's positive reviews, I went for it. I would like to say it was a good decision. The player has awesome video + sound quality & hasn't given any problems till date.

Today I am going to make another purchase. I hope I make a wise decision yet again. :)
