IM Danger / Hacking ?????

Can someone hack / take advantage of ur PC when ur with a IM convo with him (msn messenger) ? And is it possible to locate the person's location (who ur chatting with) on IM ??

i guess they are called bots(i don't know much about them),they sneak into our pc thru ports(yahoo IM has its own port)anyhow,the latest version of yahoo msgr is more secure from bots.
