Recently I have noticed that the IE 6.0 Status bar is no longer available by default when I start new instance of IE. I have Win XP Pro SP2.
It is already checked under Windows Explorer View Menu option as such, but with IE I have to set it every time from the menu. This seems to have happened automatically.
Let me know if this can be set to be displayed by default again for IE..
Thanks,

Try this:
1. Open IE 6.
2. Go to View>>Status Bar(check it)
3. Go to File>>Close
Don't close using X sign but use File>>Close this time.
Now whenever you will open IE 6 again, Status bar will be shown. You can now close using X.

I did exactly as you mentioned..but still the status bar does not show up automatically when I open IE next time.
However while IE is open, if I create new instance from File--> new window it does show up.

Hi,
Try this:
*www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/ietips.htm (See "Missing Status Bar" section)
Or this one:
