I lost my data............?

Alive Again...
I was typing command in dos
i have C: D: E: & F: Drive
I have one folder name edit3 in drive d
i wanted to delete that folder
so i gone to command prompt
their i typed
rmdir D:\edit3
but one doc file which was in that folder was opened at that time
so i got some error to delete like
"the process cannot access the file bcoz it is in used by another process"
i didnt remembered that one file is opened from that folder
so i again press enter
again i got the same error
now i saw n closed that file
n in the dos again press enter
now
......
..........
............
BOOM!!! :twisted:

it displays error
Cannot access D:\system :confused:

n when i saw it edit3 folder was remaining in drive D:
rest all have been deleted
Can someone tell me why this happen ...............................?

m not telling that i m unable to delet edit3
i m telling that i have lost all the folders in my drive D:
can u tell me y i have lost all the data............?

ya i tried that
some songs n jpg files has been recovered but out of 8.5gb data i recovered only 6.5gb
lost 2gb huh let it b
thats not the prob
only thing is i want to know whts wrong with me
n for ur info my PC is completely virus free

The first time u tried
rmdir D:\edit3...
it tried to delete the file...
It didn't happen as the file was open/in use.

The second time... by accident... (maybe automatic or maybe u backspaced)
u did
rmdir D:\

It might have cleared the whole d: drive. But still.. as the file was open, the edit3 folder didn't get deleted.

The third time is just a repeat delete.

than my c or drive will be formatted

if yes
wht will happen to the windows & system file in drive C:\

you can't delete them
you are using the files as soon as you on the PC

Hey... satyamy... u were using DOS right?
Then it might happen.

But i suppose the word is not formatting... it is complete deletion.
Formatting is different.
