Use Irfan View.

I recommend Photofiltre. It is a free image editor with lots of useful features including a batch tool that will let you apply similar image operations such as resizing for a folder full of images at one go... For the purpose of viewing on the screen, a image size of equivalent monitor size ( 800x600 or 1024x768 ) is typically enough...

Right off the assembly line
but these are big applications if you can change your image size by only the shortcut menu then nothing else can better than that.

This was my suggestion to use xp powertoy image resizer

A cool utility to resize image to any width and height Good Luck

You can use PhotoShop CS or PaintShop Pro for resizing the image. There are also
other third-party softwares available, which does the job, also it's free.

OKie
no need to use any damn 3rd party software
just open the image in PAINT and save as a different file type
Try out experimenting
use GIf as they are the most efficient
or use freebies like image compressors if u want it in a more complex way.

Why do people opt for the longer way if they have the shortest path?..

Uh huh, BMP files are huge, thats why your file's huge too. Now open it in MS Paint and go to File > Save as and in Save as type, give JPG.

forget all about resizing the image.Keeping the same resolution change the value of image compression.Typically you should keep a compression rate of 60% for better quality image. This can be done by using photoshop.

if u play wit quality of photoshop if you really want to decrease size ie make 600 kb to 60 kb the photo will be glittery....
this is when the algorithm of this compressor software like AJC works
