How to convert wmv files to mpeg mpg or avi,,any freeware

on my freinds pc have lot of wmv files of movie and everytime w media player asking licsence stuff,,,,,,

so tell me how to convert these files to mpeg mpg avi so i can view this VIDEOLAN or media player classic,,,,,,

i have searched forum but i didnt get any solution

is it possible with virtual dub,,,,,,,
