How to connect PC and laptop through LAN...

I have a PC running windows XP and I recently bought a Dell XPS 15 running windows 7 home premium.I want to copy some data from my PC to my laptop.How can I do it through a LAN wire?Is there any other way?

Well, you can buy an amkette usb connecting cable, or just connect the two pc by lan, make sure they are part of the same workgroup, also you may need to manually configure their ip addresses so they do not conflict.

Just for copying data i think its better to use a pen drive or Ext HDD or a usb cable as suggested by tkin

But speeds will be better in LAN and it will also help the OP to play MP Games if he wants..
