Hi,

I m new to linux.

Whenever i boot from a live CD/DVD there comes a console or command prompt, whatever u call.

I tried 2 flavours of linux, Ubuntu & Sidux.

What to do to bring out a desktop? I mean i want a GUI .

I don't know the commands therefore.

I also don't know that can i get a GUI in Sidux or not.

Thanx in advance.

You have to be a little more specific there man, why type of console do you get, meaning its just the prompt like #..... or you get something like a Busybox shell (just find the word busybox on the screen..)

well, sidux boots into kde :| and Ubuntu to Gnome;if that is what you asked :)

regarding terminal,it is a power house,easy(yes!).
for package management(software),use synaptic manager in menu system>preferences>synaptic.
