hiden inactive icons still show....

i used the setting to hide some inactive icons in my xp pro sp2....but when i restart my pc they still show......n as i have selected to 'always hide ' them ,t their option changes to 'hide when inactive' ..how can i hide them completely...n also when i plug a lan wire a small popup appear at the bottom right taskbar screen saying wire plugged...how can i disable these messages ,popups , n icons?????

these popups can be disabled by using

Tweak UI
*www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

the icons when are active they are alsways showing

that means in your case the icons you are trying to hide are active so they will not hide
thats why they get hideing by using "always hide"
