Hi All,

I bought a new pc with the following configuration
AMD 64bit 3000+
MSI RS480M2( Phoenix Bios)
Seagate 120GB SATA Hdd.

I intend to install linux onto it...
I tried installing various Redhat flavours RH9,FC1,PCQLinux2k5 ..
All those installers failed to recognize my harddisk..
The error says that it could not detect any harddisk attached to the system...

i checked thro google..but couldnot find any appropriate solution...i saw some posts suggesting legacy Parallel ATA selection but i could not find that option in my BIOS.
Please Help me in resolving this issue..

i badly want to install Linux in my PC

Why not go for Ubuntu!! Presumably the best one out there according to Distro Watch

It surely supports SATA disks!!!

In the bios disable the IDE controller(one not being used for CDrom etc) and set the OS type as plug and play. Please try now and see.

But the problem still continues..

may be i should look at knoppix or any other live cd that can autodetect my SATA
harddisk..?

Yes my friend is facing the same problem,
as i hv installed FC3 in mine on SATA 80GB, worked fine for me but didn`t worked in his system,
Live distro is supported check it out,
even if u hv some previous distro then it should recognise, just first installation can`t be linux(* in my friend case atleast.)
